Yet another great adventure is behind us...

In attendance we had...

John, Patrick, Dean + Roger from Vermont
Danny + family
Steve M
Trey + Jodi
Dan M
Teddy
Mike H

I didn't make it there on Friday, but from the pictures I saw the big guys ran the good stuff. Trey had a slow flop with no damage.

Danny, had an issue on the fire roads which turned out to be a snapped stub shaft. ultimately he got that put back together only to find out the brake caliper was seized. He tried clamping off the line but still didn't want to work. So he jumped in as a passenger for the remainder of the day.

Saturday morning Jodi made us attend the drivers meeting Danny was in the process of replacing the caliper during the morning run, but caught up with us after lunch.

We ended up running get bent, squealer, pucker and possibly one more before lunch with no major issues.

Lunch of left over smoked butt was delicious. .

After lunch we ran Corum, something else and ended up on KGB. KGB was going great until the last hill climb where Danny lost a brake line near the top. He ended up traveling uncontrolled backwards and hit the first (and only) tree which stopped him from traveling much further before hitting something harder or rolling. he got VERY lucky. and thankfully his kids and wife were safe and sound walking up the hill (they've seen his driving and knew better )

ended up busting out his rear glass and crushed the door, but other than that it wasn't too bad. got the line cut and clamped off to be able to drive out back to camp.

Roger from Vermont had brought some amazing piece of steak and after we cut it up and grilled it for a bit, we ate like kings. There was then a night run of some sort, but unluckily for me, I had to head home after dinner.

I'm glad I was able to attend, even if just for a day.

Big thank you to Bill Dodson for letting me borrow his trailer again. its much nicer than driving the Jeep to and from the trails.

Had a great time. Steve, I have you clamps free of the zip tie nest. For the first time out with the club, it could have gone smoother, but fun none the less.

All, is there anywhere to get custom steel braided brake hoses made locally? Apparently mine are too custom to order easily.

-Danny

P.S.- Patrick's driving was impressive.

Second Henry's
He usually won't build them on the spot, unless he's not busy. Usually takes just a couple day's turnaround though.
Suggest you call before going to see when they are open.

Address: 170 Bugeye Square, Prince Frederick, MD 20678

Best chance for on the spot turn around is to catch them when they first open. I've been getting all my custom lines done there for quite a few years.

Picking the lines up tomorrow morning. 40 bucks for two custom lines is pretty reasonable.

Next problem (not been a good month for the vehicles). My truck blew the head gasket (hence the coolant is being forced into the reservoir and staying pressurized long after shut down)...who do you guys use for machine work? I plan on pulling the head this weekend and want to have a shop lined up. Cummins 6.7l

Thanks

I haven't had really good luck down this way. At the moment there is one guy I really use, his name is Harry Langley and he's over in Calvert just north of Solomons. I've used him for a number of machine jobs but not on heads yet. I need to call him about that to for some Rover heads. His number is 410-326-2001

Hopefully the trip to Gore didn't scare you off from going on the Turkey Run. Sounds like Joel is trying to sort out coming up that weekend too.

It definitely didn't scare me...just helped me sort out some weak links. Turkey run is proving to be difficult though between the head gasket and the MC ball. If I can pull the head this weekend, I'll have a chance.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the ball. See you at the next meeting.
