Default Jeeps and Sand

I have been invited to go run some sand dunes out here in Socal, just one problem I have never ran the KJ in sand before, so what i am asking is how to run. 4hi? 4 low? should I air down? or anything else that might be helpful would be much appreciated.

Besides i want the KJ to be able to handle any terrain and to add sand dunes to the list would be sweetness.

I would suggest 4 HI, and yes, air down. You'll need to float, and you'll need wheel speed.

Air way down, 8-12 psi. Soft excellerations. If you try to get into the gas with those narrow tires, you'll be sitting on your belly in no time.
Take a shovel and if you can get ahold of them, some 2"x12"x12" scrap wood.
Makes a great Hi-Lift base.

I'd pay money to see that Liberty on a set of Sand tires (16" paddles)

I would air down to 4-5 psi because there is nothing to roll your bead off the rim and you will enjoy the wider footprint. Also, run it in 4 hi.

Thanks for the advice everyone, this should be an interesting trip. If i get atleast 1 pic of the liberty pulling out a yota or a ford it would make for a great trip.

Have fun on the sand man. I agree with the air down and high gear. Avoid wheel spin. I've taken the old land rover out on the sand before and it had mud pluggers on it. The were so stiff that even at 8 psi they still looked fully inflated. Gentle starts and keep up your momentum, you should be fine.
